The first song from my new and upcoming album "The Old Gods" is now available on every major music streaming platform and a special music video has also been released on YouTube!
The video features an amazing animated background landscape created by the talented CalMakesStuff and serves as a wonderful mood piece with the goal to transport the audio visual world that has been created.

So, let's talk a bit about Æsir (Reprise) and the new album:
The Old Gods follows in the footsteps of my previous album Ragnarok and further explores the tapestry of Norse mythology through musical themes and Nordic Folk songs.
Where Ragnarok focused on the apocalyptic event as described in the Völuspá and aimed to give a musical voice to those events itself and lead the listener through the story, The Old Gods takes a step back and examines the gods themselves, focusing on delivering highly complex character themes.
Now, some of these gods already have received a dedicated track on Ragnarok or are involved in some of the events that album explores, so The Old Gods aims to take those existing pieces and reshuffle them into new variations that create even deeper and layered themes.
That is where the track Æsir (Reprise) comes in. As the name suggests, this is a variation of the second track on Ragnarok, Æsir, and serves as a many thematic element that encompasses all the Norse gods.
In Ragnarok, the intention was to create a majestic and proud theme that truly captures the splendour and might of the gods before the world starts to fall apart and end. A sort of "What this world once was", before the endless winter casts the beginning of the end over the realms.
Now, in The Old Gods, we are presented with a more subdued version of the theme, not a "last hurrah!", but more of an examination of all facets of the gods. Not just the splendour and glory, but the cracks in between, the bickering, the fighting.
Æsir (Reprise) is the opening track of The Old Gods and is only a small preview of what's to come!
There will be more updates (and releases) soon, so stay tuned and check this space.
Until the next one,
B
